Matt and Caitlyn's wedding was truly an amazing day from start to finish. But before I can gush about the wedding, I do have to gush about Matt and Caity themselves. Honestly, it's nearly impossible to explain how wonderful these two are, and from the moment I had the opportunity to photograph their engagement session, I knew I had to be their wedding photographer! They're kind, generous, and truly a joy to be around. Beyond their love for each other, the support they have from their friends and family is phenomenal. Both their families are warm, welcoming, and truly treated me like family as well. Because of this, their wedding was one that I doubt anyone in attendance will forget!
The day began early, as I arrived to Caity's parent's private estate and got straight to work. It's impossible to walk through their home without being in awe of the history of it; the log cabin dates back to the early 1850's and was brought to Ohio from Indiana by the original owners in the 1920's. In the basement is a genuine speakeasy, which they've restored to its former glory, and might I add breathtakingly so. The estate is quite literally a photographer's dream come true, and their care and creative eye for decoration allowed for some wonderful photographic opportunities. That same attention to detail was not lost upon the wedding itself, which Caity's mother, Lisa planned and designed! I have told her before, but it bears repeating, I believe she has a natural calling in wedding planning, if she so desired!
Caity and her bridesmaids got ready in the family's restored horse stables, which have now become a cozy guest house near the main estate. Overlooking the pond and relaxing fountain, it was the perfect beginning to the day. While Caity was preparing there, Matt and his groomsmen relaxed and prepared in the log cabin portion of the home, not forgetting to visit the speakeasy while there. :) The joy, excitement, and the surprising calm of everyone made the atmosphere so much fun, and I bounced between the two of them as they got ready, enjoyed their friends and family, and prepared to see one another for the first time. Salon EXP was there to take care of the bridesmaids wedding hair and makeup, and as usual, they did a phenomenal job.
Saying their vows in downtown Dayton at First Lutheran Church, Matt and Caity's wedding ceremony was rang in by a phenomenal bagpipe player, who led Caity in, accompanied by her father. The moment was perfectly tender as her father gave her to Matt, and I saw more than one person shed a joyful tear as the two united as one. As they exited the church, wedding guests tossed lavender in the air, sending the two off with well wishes and cheers.
And don't get me started on the reception. Hailed in with cheers, the reception started off with a bang. Lisa, Caity's mother, is truly a designing genius. No stone was left unturned, and every wedding detail was perfect. From the gorgeous floral choices that Furst Floral impeccably executed, to the hor d'oeuvres chosen for during cocktail hour from Elite Catering, the stunning sweetheart table that was seemingly right out of a fairy tale, right down to the thoughtful thank you flower each guest received, each moment was carefully crafted and perfectly done, culminating in a stunning wedding reception. Add the to it the fact that the gorgeous pavilion on the other side of the grounds was ensconced by blooming wisteria trees (which, by the way, this was the FIRST YEAR the wisteria had bloomed; talk about the perfect wedding gift!), and this was truly a dream wedding.
Matt and Caitlyn, thank you so much for allowing me to be your photographer. The honor was all mine, and I cannot tell you how beautiful of a family you have, nor how wonderful it was to spend the day with you as you began your journey together. Congratulations, you two, and I wish you years of happiness!
