I am convinced I have the best couples in the world. Every couple I have the honor of getting to know and capturing their wedding for is a joy, and Alan + Danielle were no different. These two are such laid back, fun people that have the kindest spirits, which makes them exactly the type of couple I adore working with! Alan + Danielle chose Cox Arboretum, one of the Five Rivers Metro Parks in Dayton, as their wedding venue location, and on their brisk autumn Saturday, despite a smattering of rain, it was perfect.
Arriving at Cox Arboretum, I was greeted by Danielle, who sat serenely as her makeup artist finished up and her bridesmaids milled about, all excited for her day. Danielle was so calm, it was amazing. Perhaps her pre-wedding jitters were simply masked well, but I truly believe she was as calm as she appeared! Her laid back nature was evident in all of the designing, as was her sense of style and elegance. Opting to have an autumn wedding, her color palette was perfect for the changing leaves, and Cox Arboretum was a beautiful backdrop for the wedding.
As always, I kept an eye on the weather, watching the radars and hoping for the best. While the forecast said there was only a 15% chance of rain, that 15% came to fruition, but not before the ceremony was finished. And what a beautiful wedding ceremony it was! Alan's face was beaming as he watched Danielle come down the beautiful tree-lined aisle, and their vows were wonderfully written by them to one another. And, to add to the sweetness of the vows, Danielle took the time to write her own vows to Faith, her step-daughter, which brought Faith to tears, and very nearly myself! I don't believe there was a dry eye in the ceremony, and rightfully so. It was a touching moment, and one I was honored to get to document.
After the ceremony, the rain began to come down ever so slightly, but neither them, nor their family and friends, let it get to them. They actually rocked their family formal photos in the rain, and afterward, Alan + Danielle snuck off with me for some portraits. While I adore directional light and using the sun to create images, it's my job to create amazing portraits in whatever situation we find ourselves in, and during their portrait session, it would occasionally spit rain a bit, then stop, then start again. But once again Alan + Danielle impressed me with their easy going natures, and when I say they rocked their portrait session, I really mean it. These two were FANTASTIC, and we created some of the most intimate, romantic wedding portraits I've gotten the opportunity to shoot. They're both such wonderful souls, and I really believe you can see that in their photos of the day, from start to finish.
Alan + Danielle, thank you so very much for entrusting me with your wedding day. It was an absolute blast, and I'm honored you chose me to be your wedding photographer! Here's to many, many years of happiness, and please don't be strangers! Enjoy your honeymoon in Jamaica, and bring back some fantastic tans!
