Cory + Chelsea's Adventurous Engagement Session in San Diego
What do you do when there’s a polar vortex claiming the east side of the United States? You hop a plane and go hang out with an amazing couple in California for their San Diego engagement session, of course!
Cory + Chelsea are two amazing humans, who I was honored to meet a few years ago when they modeled for a workshop I attended. When we needed a couple to photograph for a day, one of my previous — and also amazing — couples connected them with us. Since then, we stayed in touch via social media. And, when Chelsea told me that Cory popped the question, obviously I was ecstatic that the follow up question was would I be willing to be their wedding photographer!
As they planned their Columbus wedding, they realized they’d fallen in love with their California life, also. Because of that, they wanted to be sure to capture that part of their story, too. As we thought out what to do for their photos, it became clear we needed to do a San Diego engagement session. All too willing to wander away from the cold of Ohio, I hopped on a plane and went to hang with them for a short weekend. Just as I assumed, the results were amazing!
We met on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Balboa Park, a staple for San Diego natives. As we wandered the park for their engagement photos, we found so many amazing nooks and crannies. Really, we could have photographed all day in there. However, like any great adventurous couple of mine, we wandered to a new locations as well. We ended the day out at Sunset Cliffs, a gorgeous coastal beachside area that lent itself to unbelievable vistas. And, when I thought it could get no better, as we called it a wrap, a couple surfers came by on their way back to their car, creating the perfect way to end an already incredible day!
Cory + Chelsea, thank you so much for allowing me to capture not only your wedding in Columbus this October, but also your amazing San Diego engagement session! It’s such an honor to get to hang with the two of you, and October can’t come soon enough!
