Mike + Ashlea's Romantic Backyard Wedding
If you need backyard wedding inspiration, look no further than Mike + Ashlea’s unbelievablely magical wedding they created at their home in Dayton. From start to finish, from driveway to the edge of their backyard, they masterfully turned their home into a fantastic place to say, “I do,” as well as party the night away. Their creativity, desire to capture moments, and commitment to creating opportunities to create some stunning portraits made their wedding one of my favorites of 2016, and their fun spirits made it ridiculously easy to pull it all together for them!
From the moment Ashlea connected with me, I knew we were going to have a great time. It’s always fantastic when a couple who has a vision that matches what I try to provide connects with me, and it’s just a joy to bring those visions to life. With Ashlea and Mike, their goal was an intimate, family affair, and a celebration with those they loved and cared for the most. And, because of that desire, it was easy to see that everyone in attendance were close friends and family, that simply adored the two of them. Those kinds of weddings are simply a blast to document!
Ashlea chose some of my favorite vendors to work with on her day, and it was amazing to see them go to work. Happy Kamper Films created a stunning wedding video for them, the team from Salon EXP did a phenomenal job on her and her bridesmaids’ hair and makeup, Sherwood Florist created some of the most stunning wedding floral arrangements I’ve seen, and Lost & Found Vintage Rentals capped off their cozy backyard feel with wonderful furniture pieces from their collection that made everything come together beautifully.
From the start of the day, where Brewer, their awesome dog, stole the show, to us wandering Dayton for great spots for portraits, to the emotional ceremony (where I don’t think there was a dry eye!), to the fantastic reception, where Brewer stole the show again, this time fully kitted with a GoPro to document the affair from a dog’s-eye view, the day was an absolute blast. Mike + Ashlea, thank you so much for entrusting your amazing day with me. It was such an honor to capture your moments, and I hope you’ll cherish one another for years to come. Give Brewer my love. 🙂
