Matt + Maha's Beautiful Persian Wedding at Dayton Art Institute
When I think about Matt + Maha’s beautiful Persian wedding, there aren’t enough words to explain the day. It was intimate, beautiful, exciting…and flat out incredible! From start to finish, I was grinning ear to ear, and I wasn’t the only one; these two know how to throw a party, and a great time was had by all!
Upon arriving at the Dayton Art Institute, beautiful florals greeted me by one of my favorite wedding florists, Sherwood Florist. They always know how to set a scene, and Maha’s wedding was top notch! From the beautiful archway they created, to Maha’s stunning bridal bouquet, the wedding florals were on point. And, don’t get me started on how stunning the Gothic Cloister was at the Institute! From top to bottom, the wedding venue was dripping with gorgeous details, perfect for Matt + Maha.
When Matt arrived, he was calm and collected. He and his father helped one another get ready, and it was a joy to get to watch their interactions. One of my favorite moments, though, was watching Maha’s mother pin on Matt’s boutonniere. It was fun to watch his soon-to-be mother in law be involved in his groom prep. It was a beautiful indication of how well these two families will come together.
Once Matt was situated, it was time for Maha to arrive to the Dayton Art Institute, and man, what a stunning bride she made! Maha is beautiful all the time, but as she walked in, I was floored. Beaming from ear to ear, with her sister, Jasmine, not far behind, Maha was truly a princess.
As incredible as everything was before the wedding was actually underway, I wasn’t ready for the beauty that is a Persian wedding. Being an Intercultural Studies major, I love cross-cultural interactions and being immersed in new surroundings. Maha and her mother told me what to expect prior to the wedding day, and I watched videos and chatted with others who had experienced the amazing joy that is a Persian wedding…but to experience it first-hand was a whole other thing! The beauty of the wedding traditions, the details lovingly put into the soffreh table, and the ceremony were amazing to watch unfold.
But, not to be outdone, they then introduced me to a Persian wedding reception. Let me tell you, folks, I’m a fan of a good party. I’ve never experienced a party like this! From beautiful dancers, to exuberant drummers, to dancing swordsman, this was a party for the books! It was a blast from beginning to end, and a wedding I won’t soon forget!
Matt + Maha, thank you so much for entrusting me with your beautiful wedding at the Dayton Art Institute. It was an honor to get to document your day for you, and I can’t wait to see what adventures you go on together as husband and wife!
(Huge shout out to Josh Farr for coming and second shooting this wedding with me. You are incredible, sir!)
