Christina + Mylan's Playful Short North Engagement Session
It’s June, and in America, June is Pride month. So, what better way to kick it off than with a fantastic Short North engagement session! Mylan and Christina’s session was everything I love about being a wedding photographer. From the laughter to being the awkward third wheel on a date with them, everything about their session was fantastic.
While I live in Dayton, I absolutely love photographing couples in Columbus. The city is full of life, full of opportunity, and the vibes are fantastic. Everywhere you turn there are murals, little alleyways, and unique shops. The Short North is one of my favorite areas in Columbus, and it didn’t let us down during their session.
But heading up to Columbus, there was a crazy storm cell that came through. The skies turned black, and traffic came to a standstill as the clouds opened up and pelted us with hail. And as my awesome friend, Olivier Lefebvre of Twinography Studio and I ran for cover in a coffee shop as we waited to meet Mylan and Christina, I wondered if this session would happen at all. Luckily, the skies cleared and we had an awesome time wandering the city!
And, for a self-proclaimed awkward couple, they ROCKED it all night long! Meeting them at North Market for Jeni’s Ice Cream, we enjoyed a fun start to the session. We wandered High Street together, enjoying finding little hidden gems of locations for photos. By the end of the session, these two were laughing, joking around, and we’d all gotten to know one another. That’s one of the reasons why I love engagement sessions: it allows you to get to know one another before the big day!
From start to finish, this session was an absolute blast. Christina + Mylan, thank you so much for hanging with me and Olivier for your engagement session! I can’t wait for your wedding in October. I have no doubt it’ll be just as incredible as this evening was!
