Many times, it’s hard to put into words how special the couples are that I get to photograph. However, when I think of Francois + Sarah, I just run out of words to say all together! With Francois hailing from South Africa, Sarah from Canada, and us meeting at a wedding I was photographing in Italy, this couple has adventurous flair…something I absolutely love. So, after becoming friends at Brendon + Robyn’s wedding, when Francois + Sarah asked me to photograph their Vancouver wedding, it was a no-brainer!

The Pacific Northwest is one of my favorite places in the world. Even with it being under siege by forest fires, Vancouver still managed to be a beautiful backdrop for their wedding. And, when the sun went down, these two heated it up with a fantastic wedding reception! From the moment I arrived to the final goodbye from their friends, this wedding was fantastic.

Arriving to Sarah in the morning, I was greeted by her bridesmaids and family. While being completely in the middle of last moment wedding prep, everyone was so kind and welcoming. Sarah’s parents are two of the sweetest people I’ve met, and her friends are hilarious and fun. It’s easy to see how loved Sarah is by her friends and family, and it was a joy to capture that love!

In another house, Francois prepared as well, and I was lucky enough to have Olivier LeFebvre of Twinography Studio with me as a second shooter. While he covered the men’s shenanigans, I stayed with the ladies, and we met up for the ceremony.

And what a beautiful ceremony! Choosing to be married in St. Peter’s Church in New Westminster, the ceremony was sweet and intimate. After a fantastic bubble exit and some time for family formals, it was time to wander! Together with their wedding party, we headed to a nearby park for portraits. This group is absolutely fantastic, so hanging with them was a total blast. And, after getting in a load of laughs, we headed to the Diamond Alumni Centre for their incredible wedding reception.

Knowing this couple from another wedding, I knew they’d throw a fantastic party! And, of course they came through with one of the best wedding receptions I’ve seen. With laughs, tears, a special song sang by Sarah to Francois, and light sabers to boot, this reception was incredible. Time flies when you’re having fun, and it definitely flew as Olivier and I photographed the night away.

Francois + Sarah, thank you so much for allowing me to capture your wedding day for you. You’re absolutely incredible, and I am so excited to see what new adventures you get yourselves into!
